Leadership in Literacy

Overview

CURATED FOR VIRGINIA’S EDUCATION LEADERS: Mason’s Leadership in Literacy program is designed to provide supporting tools and guidance in evidence-based practices to drive collective efficacy in districtwide literacy education for Virginia’s young learners. Participants will use roleplaying, actionable assignments, and practical approaches to sharpen their abilities in leading adaptive literacy instruction in their teams, in preparation for statewide guidance and mandates through the Virginia Literacy Act.

ABOUT THE COURSE: Mason’s Continuing and Professional Education (Mason CPE) in partnership with Mason’s College of Education, Center for Literacy offers a professional development program designed to support core administration staff and specialists in driving their goals as literacy education leaders in statewide reading initiatives. The Leadership in Literacy course will prepare team members with the necessary skills to manage daily leadership surrounding literacy engagements and assessments. Emerging literacy leaders will learn qualities to better equip and support the development and implementation of shared leadership as they embrace their common goals as a community of literacy education leaders.
