Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR)
George Mason University holds a Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) with the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFRL/AFOSR). Through the PIA, Mason supports AFOSR and participating Government mission partners in authorized technology transfer and transition activities, including ecosystem engagement, partnership facilitation, collaboration activities, and analytic support.
Mason serves as the non-governmental partnership intermediary. INSRE (Montana State University) and Unissant support Mason as members of the Mason team. Government mission partners participate in authorized efforts under the AFOSR PIA; they are not separate parties to the PIA. Activities are performed within the scope of the AFOSR PIA, the applicable Customer Project Order (CPO), and AFOSR-approved Project Plans. Mason facilitates the Government-directed activities identified in those Project Plans, including connections among Government mission partners, academia, industry, the commercial sector, and other innovation ecosystem participants.
AFOSR PIA | Mission Partner Collaboration Environments
Under its Partnership Intermediary Agreement with AFRL/AFOSR, George Mason University, a Carnegie R1 public research institution, supports designated collaboration environments used by Government mission partners for authorized technology transfer, technology transition, ecosystem engagement, partnership development, and related activities. These environments provide space, facilitation, and other approved support for activities conducted under applicable CPOs and AFOSR-approved Project Plans.
Mason serves as the partnership intermediary supporting these activities by facilitating connections among Government mission partners, academia, industry, the commercial sector, and other participants in the innovation ecosystem. Mason’s role is facilitative and supports Government-defined objectives and requirements. The PIA enables Mason to facilitate technology transfer, transition, and innovation engagement between Government mission partners and the broader innovation ecosystem.
