Overview

Employees across all professional industries today are stressed, even to the point of burnout. Rapid change, overloaded schedules, and increasingly complex workplace environments are key factors fueling stress at work today. As a leader, it is more critical than ever to understand how the science of well-being applies to your organization, and how it impacts your success. The Leading Thriving Organizations certificate program course will teach you tools, frameworks, and strategies for building individual well-being and establishing a thriving organizational culture that prioritizes health and well-being. You will learn how the best companies think about well-being, and discover how your organization measures up. After the Leading Thriving Organizations course, you will be ready to integrate well-being into your workplace, and you’ll feel more confident about building a more resilient, competitive, and high-performing workforce at your organization.

Spring Program Information

The Spring 2024 Leading Thriving Organizations Certificate Program focuses on leaders in the healthcare industry. This program is 100% financially covered for healthcare professionals who meet the requirements. You must apply to receive the tuition grant.

The Mason Health and Public Safety Workforce Resiliency Training Program will cover program costs for nurses, social workers, public health practitioners, and healthcare managers and leaders who live in and/or work with rural or underserved communities. The mission of the Mason Health and Public Safety Workforce Resiliency Training Program is to develop and deliver accessible education and training activities that advance the overall safety, health, and well-being of a diverse population of nurses, social workers, public health practitioners, and leaders who serve populations in need.

Spring 2024 Program Dates

Course Orientation: March 19 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET

Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET

March 26: Introduction to the Science of Well-Being/Stress and Well-Being
April 2: Workplace and Organizational Well-Being
April 9: Evidence-Based Well-Being Practices and Interventions for Leaders
April 16: Humanity at Work
April 23: Panel of Well-Being Leaders/Industry Professionals/Capstone Activity and Course Close-Out

Program Format

100% virtual with live instruction via Zoom
A time commitment of 20 hours in class (synchronous)
Approximately 10 hours outside of class (asynchronous) for applications, assessments, readings, and learning integration

Tuition: $2,850

Tuition grant available for healthcare professionals who meet the requirements
The cost of digital course texts/readings is included.

Discover how to embed well-being in your organization’s culture
Engage in question-and-answer sessions with a panel of industry leaders
Plan how to strengthen workplace well-being, including how to create a psychologically safe workplace and unleash employee talent for greater engagement and productivity

This course is eligible for 15.6 CPEs

George Mason University Continuing and Professional Education (formerly George Mason University Executive and Professional Education) is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. You can benefit most from this program if you have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
You must be fluent in written and spoken English.
For the Spring 2024 Leading Thriving Organizations Certificate Program, we are offering tuition grants to support individuals currently working as nurses, social workers, public health practitioners, and health care managers and leaders who live in and/or work with rural or underserved communities.
You must apply and demonstrate your eligibility under the Health and Safety Workforce Resiliency Training Program.

Application Information for the Spring 2024 Program

Nurses, social workers, public health practitioners, and healthcare managers and leaders who live in and/or work with rural or underserved communities can apply a tuition grant for the Spring 2024 Leading Thriving Organizations Certificate Program. If you’re not a healthcare professional, but you are interested in this program, please contact Lead2WB@gmu.edu.

To apply, click on “Apply Now” and submit the following items:

Resume that includes current job title, organization, and geographic area
Description of your professional role or community service as it relates to managing, supporting or providing health care and social assistance to rural or underserved communities (limit to 250 words)
A letter from your supervisor stating your approval to attend all five course sessions. If you are self-employed, please submit two professional references.

Please note: The above items can only be submitted electronically through the student portal. They will not be accepted via email or mail. The application deadline is February 23, 2024.

Applications will be reviewed in order the they are received. Once your application is determined to be eligible under the Health and Public Safety Workforce Resiliency Training Program, you will receive instruction on the next steps to complete your registration for the Leading Thriving Organizations Certificate Program. Your participation is confirmed once your registration has been processed.

Please note that program size is limited to the first 26 applicants. If the program reaches capacity, you will be placed on a waitlist for the next program offering. Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis. Note that the program may fill in advance of the application deadline.

Mason’s Credential in Organizational Well-Being Leadership

After earning the Leading Thriving Organizations certificate, you are eligible to apply for Mason’s Credential in Organizational Well-Being Leadership. Applications for Mason’s Credential in Organizational Well-Being Leadership open in Spring 2024. The requirements for that credential are:

Complete the certificate in Leading Thriving Organizations
Design an action learning project
Complete two hours of well-being coaching facilitated by Center for the Advancement of Well-Being faculty
Pass the credentialing exam
