Prepare for In Demand Industry Certifications (Optional)
The IFMA works to advance their collective knowledge, value, and growth so facility management professionals can perform at their highest levels. They're the world's largest and most widely recognized association for facility management professionals, supporting over 20,000 members in more than 100 countries to help them advance through career development, learning, networking opportunities, and leadership skills.
You can demonstrate your skill and knowledge of current best practices to employers by earning IFMA's FMP credential. To earn the FMP credential, you'll complete the Facility Management Training, which consists of four courses. After each course, you'll take a final assessment that's comprised of 50 questions. Once all four assessments have been completed successfully, you'll submit your FMP application and fee to IFMA for them to officially award you the credential.
Whether you apply for a position or promotion in the field, or just plan to do business with a facility manager, having the letters “FMP” after your name demonstrates your level of professionalism and provides a level of confidence in your performance.

Choose Your Level of Learning
George Mason offers different ways to learn new skill sets that enhance your current role and help you step into new career opportunities.
- Individual courses focus on a specific set of skills or industry knowledge and can vary widely in terms of contact hours. You can spend a week completing a course, or more than a year.
- Immersive courses typically take a minimum of 25 contact hours to complete but can take as many as 60. When you complete an immersive course, you'll receive a digital badge that easily verifies a set of skills you achieved to future employers.
Digital Badges
This immersive program readies you to earn the IFMA's FMP® credential and accompanying digital badge. The digital badge provides a sharable link for future employers to easily verify that you have proven abilities in the core competencies of facility management and skills that can immediately impact cost savings to their organization.
IFMA is an ANSI-Accredited Certificate Issuer - Accreditation #1057. IFMA is accredited to issue the FMP Certificate to those successfully completing the FMP Certificate Program by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under ANSI/ASTM E2659-18.
